Blind date @ Caribou coffee

What should a good coffee house have ? If you answer "Good Coffee",then you are simply wrong.

The priorities of Coffee houses have changed and, per the latest standards, they should have A) a good Wi-Fi connection B) a place to hang-out C) an environment to make the nerds feel-at-home.

My recent visit to Caribou coffee just had everything and even more. For single geeks like me, it created an opportunity to meet new strangers. Here is the napkin challenge(at Caribou) that was just simple and functional at best.

PS: Though I wish they had kept pencils with these napkins to challenge someone. We geeks are not the paper-and-pencil type , you know..

The ASAP Phrases

Ever-growing corporate hypocrisy is much exemplified by this new age corporate lingo, which I call 'The ASAP Phrases'. Here is a list I hear everyday

Around me, people
 don't Walk to a Meeting, instead they Run to Meeting(s)
 don't Send an Email, instead they Shoot an Email
 don't Summarize, instead they Bottom-line
 don't Increase, instead they Ramp-up
 don't Offer Solutions, instead they Ask Statuses
 don't Forward Emails, instead they FYI
 don't have A Question, instead they have A Quick Question


And my favorite..
They want the work completed : Not tomorrow, not after Breakfast but ASAP (courtesy: Shawshank Redemption)

The Coffee Shop Episode

The coffee shop was throwing away FREE t-shirts for the best t-shirt design. All customers were handed drawing sheets and asked to submit their entries in 5 minutes. Easy to imagine, everybody got a panic attack.

As it turned out, a beautiful girl's drawing was selected the best. She apparently did not know what to draw, and ended up drawing a chandelier, decorating it with some flashy color pencils.

After seeing this , I got a PANIC ATTACK !!!

Wouldn't it make more sense to draft a simple coffee mug or a coffee table design?

Why do we tend to ignore simple choices in our pursuit to impress the mass?

And the guy whose chose the winner ; Oh !! what a dickhead !!!
